CWA 3201 News

Brothers and Sisters

The fourth quarter is here and there is not a lot of news surrounding head count.

There will be a few techs being offered jobs in the First mile Project.  There will be a JVN posted for an ET in Albany and possible JVN for a clerk in Construction.  It looks as if in Alan Edmonson’s area of GA, NC and SC, he will end the year with about 33 people UNDER head count, but with no approval to add any additional head count.

Bargaining will begin in February so please get your bargaining suggestions in to the local as soon as possible.  I will be attending a National Bargaining Council meeting in Dallas November 17-19.  We should have some bargaining information to share at the December union meeting.  It looks as if there will be two bargaining tables - a National Table that will be in Dallas where wages and benefits will be bargained and a local table in Atlanta where the local issues will be bargained.  The National table will have Noah Savant District 3 Vice- President and the Local Table will have Judy Dennis with the rest of the Bargaining Team to be announced most likely in Dallas.

It seems as if AT&T is tightening the screws down on attendance and productivity.  Please be where you are supposed to be and doing what you are supposed to be doing.  Remember that big brother is watching (GPS).

At the December Union Meeting, we will have two guest speakers:  Beverly Hicks assistant to District 3 Vice-President and Harry McFarland who is the Georgia State Rep.  Beverly has chaired bargaining for CWA many times and will be instrumental in 2009 Bargaining.  She should have some good insight to 2009 Bargaining.  Please try to attend this important meeting.

CWA Local now has a union privilege dentist.  The dentist is Dr. Felix Sibley located in Thomasville, Ga.  He will do most of his work for what our plan pays so it could save you a lot of money if you choose to use him. You can find him on our Web site under links.

Stay Strong,

 Roger Todd
